Nearby Cities and Attractions

When you stay with us here in Freeport, you’re right in the middle of some of the most popular destinations on the Florida Panhandle. Close enough to Destin, Panama City Beach, and the 30-A corridor that a day trip to any of them is effortless. We’ve put together a guide to our favorite spots in each area so you know exactly what’s around and how to make the most of your stay.

Destin, FL

Destin is about 45 minutes west on Highway 98. Emerald green water, white sand beaches, fresh seafood right off the docks at Harbor Walk Village, outdoor shopping at Destin Commons, outlet deals at Silver Sands, and Big Kahuna’s are all waiting for you in this idyllic coastal destination.

Choctawhatchee Bay

The bay is practically in our backyard. From Black Creek Lodge you can boat directly into the Choctawhatchee via the creek and river, making it one of the most accessible stretches of water on the Panhandle. You’ll find good fishing, quiet coves, waterfront dining at The Bay Restaurant, and eco tours if you want someone else to do the navigating.

Rosemary Beach, FL

Rosemary Beach sits at the eastern end of Scenic 30-A, about 45 minutes from the lodge. It’s a walkable, planned community with some of the best independent dining on the Panhandle, a Sunday farmers market, miles of biking trails, and a stretch of beach that tends to be a lot quieter than the bigger tourist strips.

Panama City Beach, FL

Panama City Beach is about 30 miles east and leans into the full Florida beach town experience. Pier Park for shopping and entertainment, Shipwreck Island Waterpark, Gulf World Marine Park, and some of the widest beaches on the Panhandle. Good pick if you’ve got a group with a mix of interests.
